#1: You think of plastic surgery as a quick fix…Not-so-spoiler: it’s not. No matter the procedure—breast augmentation, tummy tuck, rhinoplasty—results don’t happen overnight. Swelling, bruising, and months of healing are all part of the deal. Not saying it’s not worth it (because it absolutely can be), but if you’re expecting instant perfection or a so-called “quick fix,” that’s just not the reality.
#2: You’re in the middle of a major life event, like divorce…No one’s going to mind a skin refresh, but a full-blown cosmetic procedure during a big life event is something you definitely want to think through… and then think through some more. Big life changes come with big emotions, and surgery should never be a snap decision. The last thing you want is post-op regret—physically, financially, or otherwise.
#3: You’re willing to risk safety for results…Cutting corners—whether it’s choosing an unqualified provider, chasing bargain procedures, or skipping pre- or post-op care—can lead to serious complications (think: infections, botched results, or worse). The best providers prioritize safety above all, and you should, too.
#4: You push back on pre-op protocols…Sorry, but pre-surgery rules like quitting smoking, reaching a healthy weight, or adjusting medications aren’t optional. Skipping them is a red flag for any doctor who’s serious about safe surgery and top-tier results.
#5: You won’t accept the doctor’s explanation about what can reasonably be achieved…If your surgeon says a certain look won’t work for your body or that an extreme change could lead to complications, believe them. Repeat after us: Good doctors won’t promise the impossible. “Dr Uppal I know you’re the best nose surgeon in the world but please make me look like Kim Kardashian.”
#6: You’re rude to office staff…Does this one even need an explanation? If you’re dismissive, demanding, or flat-out rude to the people running the show behind the scenes, don’t be surprised if your doctor decides you’re not the right fit.
Cosmetic surgery is a big decision, and the best outcomes come from realistic expectations, careful planning, and a commitment to safety. A good surgeon like Dr Uppal will always prioritise your well-being over quick results, and the right mindset can make all the difference in your experience. So, if you’re considering a procedure, take your time, do your research, and, most importantly—trust the experts. |
